For a town with such a fantastic collection of historic photographs, a town located in such beautiful countryside, a town filled with so many photogenic corners, it is extraordinary that there was no group established to focus on photography. With this in mind Janet Beech, retired teacher, part-time well dresser and Festival Committee member, decided to try and create a group out of nothing more than her own immense enthusiasm for photography and the help of a few friends who shared that enthusiasm.
Janet called a meeting on 22nd August 2007 where the proposition was given full exposure and it was agreed that a group should be developed with the first objective of providing photographically based material for exhibition at the 2009 Bollington Festival
. Since then regular meetings have been held.

Our theme for October is "BLACK AND WHITE".
Everyone with any interest at all in photography will be very welcome.
Mission statement
Some thought has been given to this but not formalised, but it has been agreed what it will not be - it will not be a group for camera nerds, colour technocrats and competition freaks! We wish to involve all those who like to take pictures for pleasure, whether they have the latest in digital super-camera or are still using their trusty old film camera, whether they understand and use the myriad of adjustments on their camera or simply rely upon the camera automation to take a nice picture.

The group has a presence on Flickr, the website for displaying pictures on the internet.

for the latest postings. The Administrator of our group is Katherine Lewis. The Moderators are Simon Nottage, Janet Beech and Tom Lewis. We will:
- Invite new members
- Have overall approval of membership
- Ensure that the photographs comply with Festival Photography “rules”
We will need custom tags for the Group photographs.
A MESSAGE FOR ALL THE NON-FLICKR MEMBERS
You do not have to join Flickr to put your pictures on the site! Just get the images to me, preferably by email, and I will arrange for them to be included in our collection. Don't miss out on the fun. We are noticing that people tend to take photos of places that they go to regularly. This is probably close to where they live and walk the dog. These images show how passionately we feel for the place we live in. If more people are involved, then more of Bollington will be caught on camera. These images should not be imprisoned in obscurity, so share them with us!!!
Also, do you have any archive photos of the area that we could use for a 'Then and Now' theme in the future? These are probably not suitable for Email, but there are ways that we can reproduce them and return the originals to you. Please email me if you can help.
