The National Blood Service are appealing for more people to roll their sleeves up and become local lifesavers when the next session in Bollington takes place. Donations collected in Bollington have fallen over recent times so we are keen to encourage those who haven't donated for a while to get back into the habit and to attract new donors to the session as well.

If you have never donated before you can find further details about blood donation on our website www.blood.co.ukExternal link, which explains why we need people to give blood, how it is used and where else in the region we host donation sessions. You can also find details about medical or travel reasons that may prevent people from donating.

If there are any other ways in which you can support the National Blood Service, such as distributing leaflets amongst your colleagues, putting up posters for us or by enquiring about a session at your workplace you can also contact us through the website. If you have any medical enquiries about giving blood you can call 0845 7711 711 to speak to a member of staff in confidence.

Each donation can be used to save up to three lives so by donating you would be making a real difference. Please give blood, it could be someone you know that needs blood one day; it could be you!

Message from the National Blood Service ...

Blood donation sessions are back in Bollington!

If you are a Bollington blood donor you may have been wondering why you have not heard from the National Blood Service recently. As you will know, the future of the venue that we use for our sessions, the Civic Hall, has been in doubt of late [due to proposed building work] but we are delighted to say we are able to commence sessions in the village again.

So, whether you are a regular donor or a curious first timer we would love to see you on Friday June 13 at the Civic Hall on Palmerston Street. The session will run in the afternoon and evening from 1.30 – 3.30pm and from 5.30 – 7.30pm.

If you would like to make an appointment to donate please call 0845 7711 711 or visit www.blood.co.ukExternal link. If you are unable to commit to making an appointment please turn up and we will do our best to see you as soon as possible.

Giving blood is an incredibly rewarding experience. Each donation, when split into its component parts (red cells, platelets and plasma), can go towards saving or improving up to three lives. To find out more about whether you are eligible to donate or about the donation process please contact 0845 7711 711 or visit www.blood.co.ukExternal link.

We hope to see you back in Bollington saving a life this summer!
