Council Meetings
Council meetings are held at the Town Hall at 7.30pm on the Tuesday following the 1st Monday of every month except August. There is a second meeting in January, a week after the normal meeting, in order to agree the budget for the following financial year. The meeting in May is taken up with the annual Mayor Making ceremony and reception. The May business meeting is held on the following Tuesday. Members of the public are welcome to attend any of these meetings.
Town Assembly - held annually on the Tuesday following the third Monday in March in the Civic Hall - You have to be there! In 2010 it will be on Tuesday 16th March, 7.30pm.
Mayor Making - The annual Mayor Making ceremony
takes place at the May council meeting, Tuesday 4th May in
2010. This is followed by a reception in the Civic Hall for invited
guests.
There were 12 nominations for the election held on 1st May
2008. As this matched the number of seats all were deemed elected
without the need for a poll. The town is divided into three Wards,
East, West and Central Bollington, with four councillors each.
Ingersley Vale is accessible only
from Bollington but most of it, from the bowling green on, is
actually in Rainow parish. Other premises on the east side of
Bollington are also in Rainow parish. Rainow's Parish Councillor
is:
Cllr. Geoff Thompson
