A lady from Poynton was worried about a phone call she had received.

The caller claimed to be acting on behalf of SAS Alarms and asked questions about her alarm system.  After the introduction the caller made another call asking more questions and offering to install a new free alarm system because the existing system was not registered with the police.

The lady became suspicious and terminated the call.

The phone directory lists SAS Alarms at Staleybridge.

Contacting the proprietor confirmed that the calls do not originate from his company - they do not make cold calls.  He said that he is sick and tired of people contacting him regarding this matter, so it must be widespread.

If you get a call from someone selling burglar alarms, and particularly if they claim to represent SAS Alarms, hang up. Then call 1471 to see if you can get the caller's number. If you can, please write it down and tell your local Trading Standards about it, 08454 04 05 06 for Bollington residents.
