Bollington Access Action Group is a voluntary group of people, interested in everyone with physical or sensory disabilities in Bollington, in order to ...
Promote the active participation of disabled people in all aspects of life.
Campaign to increase the general awareness of problems encountered by disabled people in the areas of access and transport.
Our Aims ...
To enable disabled people to achieve maximum independence and full integration into the community;
To strive for equality and access to life for all;
To seek and act upon disabled people and carers’ views and experiences;
To support the need for all disabled people to live independently if they so desire;
To promote closer links between groups of disabled people.
The group was founded in 1993 and among its successes have been the provision of a chairlift and hearing loop at Bollington Town Hall; campaigning for a handrail at the Gleave Avenue footpath (provided by Cheshire County Council); an on-going campaign for dropped kerbs for easier access, and the production of a Visitors’ Guide to places to eat in Bollington.
Visitors to the town might like to visit the Sensory Garden in the War Memorial Gardens (flat access), which was provided with support from the Access Group in Millennium Year.
The Group meets at Ingersley Court on
a regular basis and welcomes new members.
If you would like to contact the Action Group, whether to consider joining or for advice and information, please contact Joy Tunstall (01625 430743).

Empowering local disabled people to have independence, choice and control
over their lives and removing the barriers that exist within society.
We are a not-for-profit charitable user-led organisation, run and controlled
by disabled people. We have been established since 1992, providing a range
of support services, driven by the needs and aspirations of disabled people.
We currently offer two volunteering opportunities in your area:
- Buddy Scheme;
supporting individual disabled children and young people to access
community activity groups of their choice on a weekly basis
- Buzz Youth Group; providing
support to disabled children and young people who attend the group
to participate in activities on offer on a weekly basis and/or during
school holidays.
