The Anglican Church in Bollington is very much alive, writes Revd. Veronica Hydon, and especially looks forward to welcoming newcomers of all ages at our main Sunday Service at 10.30am at St Oswald's Church, with Junior Church for ages three years and upwards. On the 1st Sunday of each month there is a Family Communion Service at 10.30am and also an informal service of Meditation and Healing at 7pm. Look out for further details in due course about our plans for the St. Oswald's Centenary celebrations in October 2008!

The history of the Anglican Church in Bollington is covered in the book by the Revd. R Norton Betts, Bollington Through the Centuries, available from the Discovery Centre.

St. John the Baptist

Church Street, Bollington

Anglican services are now held in St Oswald's, Bollington Cross, Holy Trinity, Jackson Lane, Kerridge and at Pott Shrigley.

This former parish church has been closed since 1st June 2003. Lack of maintenance and an obsolete electrical system have overwhelmed this lovely old Grade II listed building.

This church is currently available to offers of purchase/conversion by application to the Diocesan Redundant Churches Uses Committee (Secretary: Mr Richard Mortimore). We understand that there have already been a number of enquiries from potential purchasers or developers.

The Civic Society are concerned that the town needs to protect its interests with respect to the future of St John's and have arranged a meeting to discuss the matter. See the special page.
