Promoting your event!

Tell 'em it's on!

There are various ways to get your event to the wider public in Bollington ...

  • Happy Valley web site is available every day to promote your events free of charge. Other than for spectacular major events, such as the Festival, we don't normally list events on the home page more than two weeks before their scheduled date. Anything promoted on the home page also gets a listing on Twitter at @HV_BollingtonExternal link. Just send your details in an email to the Webmaster. If your group does not have a web site you can have a page on the Happy Valley web site for free. See what we do for the Horticulture group. You can have something similar - all you need to do is send me the information you would like to publish.
  • 'What's On'External link collated and published by Andrea Paterson, Bollington Town Council (BTC), at Bollington Town Hall and published monthly on paper and as a PDF through the BTC web siteExternal link with links from the Happy Valley web site. To be included please submit the full details of your event on paper to the Town Hall or by email by the last working day before the 24th of the month.
  • BTC notice boards - there is a limited amount of space available on the eight BTC notice boards located around the town. These are updated each Wednesday and your promotional poster should be provided to the Town Hall on A4 or A5 paper and preferably encapsulated to protect it against damp.
  • Bollington Arts CentreExternal link notice board - if your event is taking place at the Arts Centre then you should provide a poster for the board located beside the street entrance to the Arts Centre.
  • 'Bollington Live!' is published every four months. Send details by email to Lily Hardebeck, the Bollington Live! What's On collator. Remember that there is a long lead time for this popular magazine - your information for the February edition is required by the last Friday in January covering the months of March, April, May and June; for the June edition by the last Friday in May covering the months of July, August, September and October; and for the October edition by the last Friday in September covering the months of November, December, January and February.

Looking to the future

During 2012 both the Happy Valley web site and the BTC web site are going to be upgraded using modern techniques and technology. It is planned to include a comprehensive What's On service, one that can be updated by event organisers themselves! Watch out for announcements in due course!
