  • 23rd April - Nicola & Sonia met Kater Radford who is the new Climate Change Programme Manager of the CWEA (Cheshire & Warrington Economic Alliance); we provided a draft proposal to position BCR as a pilot Social Enterprise to maximise our chances of getting funding and gave her a tour of relevant sites
  • 15th March - Nicholas Winterton DL MP visits the BCR exhibition at the Discovery Centre
  • March: Suggestions submitted on environmental and sustainability issues for the Town Plan
  • 26th & 27th February: Attended EcoBuild Exhibition at Earls Court, London
  • 22nd February: Awareness Raising film showing of Al Gore's 'An Inconvenient Truth'
  • 19th February: Tour around Cheshire's Eco friendly Kingsmead Primary school
  • February: Won funding from NWDA for feasibility study of River Dean for suitability for micro hydro power generation

2007

  • 23rd November: Attended Sustainable Cities and Communities conference at Birmingham NEC, obtaining useful information and contacts
  • 10th November: First public meeting! 36 people attended presentation at the Arts Centre. Very successful evening
  • 30th October: Monthly meeting
  • October: Attended an event on renewables held by the Institute of Engineering and Technologies
  • October: Visited Conniston Water Wheel
  • 16th October: Attended the Cheshire County Council Play Your Part event at Macclesfield College
  • 2nd October: Monthly meeting where we receive a presentation from Weatherseal on low carbon renewable technologies
  • September: Applied to Bollington Town Council for a small grant
  • 27th September: Bollington Carbon Revolution feature in the Manchester Evening News
  • 26th September: Bollington Carbon Revolution feature in the Macclesfield Express
  • 21st September: Attended Bollington Festival 2009 meeting to promote our ideas to contribute
  • 17th September: Presentation at Bollington Cross Primary School to award prizes for the poem and picture competition
  • 12th September: Presented at the 21st Century Villages in Cheshire event in Middlewich
  • 10th September: Presentation at Dean Valley Primary School to award prizes for the poem and picture competition
  • 9th September: Launch our £200 cash back scheme for local residents who install energy saving measures in their home
  • 9th September: Sucsessful stall at Bollington Transport Extravaganza, included four eco-cars
  • 7th September: Produced our awareness raising leaflet aimed at informing our community of who we are and how they can get involved
  • 6th September: Meet with a local charity, the Drop-in Centre, who will hold our leaflets and £200 cash back application forms
  • 6th September: Met with the Town Council to introduce ourselves and see how the Town Council could support us
  • 4th September: Monthly meeting
  • 3rd September: Met with a local charity; the Kerridge Ridge and Ingelsey Vale project and formed a partnership to deliver a tree planting and offsetting scheme
  • 1st September: Featured in Cheshire’s Year of Action on Climate Change News
  • 20th August: Meeting to pull together the Awards for All application
  • 11th August: Interviewed by the author of the new Friends of the Earth book Cool Planet, Cool People

  • 25th January: Attended Ashton Hayes Going Carbon Neutral 1st birthday party
  • 15th January: Gary Charnock from Ashton Hayes delivers presentation to our monthly meeting
  • 8th January: Decided on group name Bollington Carbon Revolution to tie in with the Industrial Revolution, Bollington's past and the cause of climate change
  • January: Completed and published the strategy report

2006

  • 6th December: Sustainable Cheshire Forum annual conference
  • 28th November: Presentations from group members on 'Communication', 'Management Structure', 'Waste' and 'Food'
  • 23rd November: Presentations from group members on 'Water', 'Renewables' and 'Energy'
  • 16th November: Presentations from group members on 'Similar Schemes', 'Renewable Technologies' and possible funding streams
  • 28th September: Begin research for the strategy report
  • September: Establish group and start fortnightly meetings
  • 29th August: Civic Society present on the issue at initial meeting
