Parking charges

There have been concerns, and even rumours, that Cheshire East Council were planning to charge for the use of Pool Bank and even other parking areas in Bollington. Such action would cause great concern, particularly for the future of shopping in the town. We have few enough shops as it is without council action to put those remaining out of business.

We are pleased to say the council have made it very clear that they are NOT going to charge for parking in small towns and villages. The following message was sent by the CEC councillor in charge of parking, Cllr Peter Hartwell ...

Subject: Rumours surrounding the introduction of car parking charges

Dear Town and Parish Council Clerks,

Following our telephone conversations and my answerphone messages left earlier this afternoon, I am writing to confirm Cheshire East BC's official position with regard to any rumours which may be circulating about the introduction of car parking charges in your areas.

Can I reassure you that this is NOT the Council's policy and our position is that no further charges will be introduced in Bollington, Disley, Handforth, Poynton and Prestbury.

May I take this opportunity to apologise for any concerns you or local residents may have had as a result of this mis-information.

If you would like any further information or wish to discuss any issues you may have concerning parking in your towns and villages, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Kind regards
Peter Hartwell
