Welcome David Naylor!
David
lives with his wife Jill and two children in Tytherington. He has
strong links with Bollington - his wife was born in Bollington
and her family still live here. His children began their education
at Bollington Cross School. His son Angus plays Cornet in Bollington
Brass Band and David is also involved with the Brass
Band and helps in various roles.
Until July 2010 David was with Cheshire East Council
and over the last 30 years held positions with Macclesfield
and Cheshire East Councils as Head of Environmental Health, Head
of ICT, Head of Customer Services and more recently with Cheshire
East as Customer Services Transformation Manager. Before that he
worked for Tameside Council and the NHS.
He says "A central theme
for me has been trying to deliver efficient and effective services
and above all trying to provide friendly approachable services.
I would like to think that people I have worked with and customers
I have served will say that I am a good listener who always went
out of his way to help, usually with a smile. I think they will
also say that I did my utmost to get a result and quite often did."
"I am confident that my long experience in local government will
help Bollington to get results. It is a very interesting time now
that Bollington is a Quality Town Council. This status has been
well earned and means that Bollington can seek the devolution of
some services from Cheshire East Council. There are risks with
this but under the right terms this can improve local services.
I am expecting to be involved with the Councillors and Cheshire
East Officers about such opportunities."
"I love Bollington and can’t
think of any other place with so much going on and so many active
community groups. In stepping down from Cheshire East Council I
wanted to do something that would keep me involved with the local
community and also give me a little more time to develop some personal
interests. My ambition for the post is to
work with the Councillors and staff to further promote the Town
Council as the leader of the local community not only in responding
to events but also in proactively delivering change."
David's hobbies include cycling, photography, walking, skiing
(he says badly!) and brass banding. He adds "I am currently
learning the flugel horn and at my current progress I should be
able to join the Bollington Band in about 20 years!"
We all wish David great success in the job.

David Broadhurst
David joined the Town Hall team in May 2008. He returned
to teaching in August 2010. David has been a huge success
becoming, as he has, the highest qualified town clerk ever
in Bollington. Together with his own qualification success
he has molded the town council into a highly effective body
to achieve Quality Council status. |

Roger Johnson
Roger Johnson retired as Town Clerk in July 2007. He had
been in office for three and a half years and said he had
greatly enjoyed his time in Bollington, and so did we enjoy
having him here! Roger, who lives in Tytherington with his
wife Babs, retains a continuing connection with Bollington
as chairman of Bollington Brass Band.
Roger was followed in the position by Terry Crosswell but
unfortunately Terry resigned in February 2008. Roger very
kindly stepped back into the breach and held the fort for
a short period while David Broadhurst settled in. |
