Review of the first Parish* Plan
There was a project meeting on 9th July 2007 to review implementation progress and determine the future for the Parish Plan. Relevant reports were presented. It was decided to call a meeting in September to start a project to undertake a formal review and update of the Parish Plan.
An outstanding feature of the existing plan was a full formal review of the parking situation in Bollington. The chairman, Michael Burdekin, will discussed this further with the Highways officers. His previous attempt at obtaining funding for a review was rejected by councilors.
It was agreed that the next plan should recommend broad ideas and themes rather than the specific targets, such as in the present plan, because they are likely to be easier to achieve. Some of the recommendations in the first plan have failed to be achieved because they were too specific and proved to be impractical as proposed.
A circular was delivered to all homes in the town and an article was posted in Bollington Live! (issue 41).
The chairman, Michael Burdekin, was highly praised for his considerable contribution to the success of the first plan and thanked by all present. He expressed his thanks to all those who had supported the project and indicated that he would be standing down from the chair.
* The first plan was known as the Parish Plan. The second and subsequent plans will be known as the Town Plan.
