An open consultation with residents from Bollington took place at the Bollington Cross Community Centre on Wednesday 7th June 2006. In attendance from Groundwork were Lynn Seymour-Price, Senior Manager, and Nick Rowles, Project Manager.

Consultees were taken through various stages; an ‘issues wall’ where people had an opportunity to express their concerns with the site, a display board illustrating some possible uses of the space, an ‘ideas wall’ and a mapping exercise. Consultees were met at each station by either a Groundwork staff member or a member of the steering group.

The event was advertised by means of a leaflet drop carried out by members of Groundwork, with some 300 leaflets being delivered. Additionally, the local press published an article and the local radio station aired an interview with Lynn Seymour-Price.

34 people of various ages attended the consultation at the Community Centre. They were mostly from the estate surrounding Bollington Cross playing fields but also from the wider community of Bollington.

In an effort to boost the numbers contributing to the consultation, static displays with a facility for the community to present their ideas, have been set up in the Library and the Leisure Centre. These will be avaliable from 15th June until 28th June. The data gathered from these will be collated and together with the information obtained from the consultation, will form a report which will be presented to the next meeting of the BCYP. Following this meeting, the landscape architect will be given instructions to prepare designs. We will take these designs out into the community before agreeing upon a final design.

Subsequent efforts will focus upon fund-raising.
